James E. Bush, CLPE

James E. “Jamie” Bush earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS.  He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.  He began his career in criminal justice as a uniformed police officer in 1975 with the City of Laurel, MS Police Department.  After four years in the Patrol Division, he was transferred to the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) where he was trained in crime scene investigation and fingerprint science.  Jamie successfully elevated in rank from Investigator up to Captain and served as commander of the CID.  In 1992, he was appointed to serve as Chief of Police.

In 1995, he retired from the Laurel Police Department and accepted a position with the Mississippi Crime Laboratory as a Latent Print Examiner.  He has served as a Senior Examiner/Trainer, Team Leader of the Crime Scene Response Unit, Forensic Section Chief and presently serves as the Regional Manager of the Meridian facility of the Mississippi Crime Laboratory system.  He continues to conduct latent print examinations and provides training for the criminal justice and forensic communities in the areas of fingerprint science, crime scene investigation and courtroom testimony.

Mr. Bush has qualified in State and Federal Courts numerous times to provide expert witness testimony in the areas of latent print examination and crime scene investigation.  He is a member of the International Association for Identification (IAI), and has achieved IAI certification in the areas of Latent Prints (CLPE) and Crime Scene Examination (CSCSA).  Jamie currently serves as Secretary of the Latent Print Certification Board of the IAI.
