Brian Dew, CLPE

Brian Dew began his career as a Forensic Analyst with the Wilson, NC Police Department where he was responsible for major crime scene investigations, latent print examinations and AFIS operations.  During his career, he has successfully completed in excess of 750 hours of forensic training in a wide array of evidence collection and laboratory examination topics.

Brian has provided assistance in crime scene investigations, latent print examinations and other related matters to a large number of local, state, and federal agencies.  He has been invited to lecture at numerous seminars around the country including State and Regional Divisions of the International Association for Identification along with the annual parent body educational conference of the I.A.I.  He serves as a senior consultant with Ron Smith and Associates, Inc. providing a variety of forensic training and consulting services both domestically and internationally.

His prior experience as a Paramedic Supervisor, coupled with his experience as a crime scene investigator, has given him a unique perspective of how a crime scene should be handled from the point of discovery to the point of completion.

Brian is a sustaining active member of the IAI and has served as a member of the Latent Print Subcommittee. He is a past president, current board member and Life Active member of the North Carolina Division of the I.A.I.  Brian has achieved professional certification as a Latent Print Examiner with the International Association for Identification and maintains credentials as a certified instructor.
