Crime Scene Investigator Jobs
Has watching episodes of CSI or its various spin offs led you to considering finding crime scene investigator jobs in your area? Before you quit your day job you may want to see if you have what it takes to have an edge over others that are competing against you for the same job. Crime scene investigators are like the coordinators of the crime scene. They are the ones that are ultimately responsible for not only the evidence that has been collected but also the interpretation of the data that is collected from that evidence.
With this in mind, you need to be a quick thinker in order to really work a crime scene well. Some people are ideally suited for this type of position as they are quick thinkers and thrive in high pressure situations that require constant mental workouts as well as the ability to multitask physically and mentally. In other words, this is an exciting field in which to work. On the downside, you must have a strong stomach in order to do this work day in and day out and the ability to leave your work at the office because this is a job that you definitely do not want to bring home with you.

As far as jobs go, the job of a crime scene investigator is also great for people who are interested in a lifetime of learning. In order to stay on top of the game CSIs are continuously continuing their education. This means that they spend a good deal of their time either learning new techniques for crime scene investigation or teaching those techniques to the members of their team. Some even teach on the college level on occasion.
Another drawback for many with families when it comes to crime scene investigator jobs is the need to work on call for emergencies. Most CSI jobs are your typical nine to five jobs with an occasional after hours shift or 24 hour on call shift. This can be difficult when it comes to planning ahead for family time. The good news is that the interruptions are almost always expected and you know about them ahead of time. This makes it much easier. There are many careers that require employees to be on call and it is much better than working after hour shifts at all times but well worth mentioning to those that are seriously trying to consider whether this is the career for them.
Another criteria that many people aren’t all that familiar with is the need to be in decent physical condition. Crime scenes are not always convenient; obviously they weren’t convenient for the victims. This means that you may need to do a lot of bending, kneeling, or stooping in order to collect the evidence. You also need to be able to do a good bit of heavy lifting as part of the job. So plan to be in good physical shape in addition to being prepared for an exciting and fascinating career when applying for crime scene investigator jobs.
