Ron Smith & Associates, Inc. is proud to have developed a solid and long term business relationship with “AFIX Technologies, Inc.”, headquartered in Pittsburg, Kansas.

AFIX Technologies, Inc., a recently acquired “L1 Investments” company, has been in the AFIS industry for several years and developed the AFIX Tracker system. Over the last few years, the experts at AFIX Technologies have developed additional law enforcement and forensic applications of the AFIX Tracker software and it is now capable of providing inmate verification for detention operations.  Remote subject identification is quickly being developed along with several other new and exciting applications.

AFIX Tracker consist of an extremely accurate automated fingerprint system along with the only automated palm print identification system designed and endorsed by Ron Smith, recognized worldwide for his special expertise in palm print comparison techniques.  His course, “Demystifying Palm Prints” is the only Latent Print Examiner training course in the world specifically designed to teach Latent Print Examiners how to properly position partial latent palm prints prior to conducting either a manual or automated search.  This course, which has been taught in over forty-five states and numerous other countries, to in excess of 6,000 examiners worldwide, has become the recognized standard in the field.

It is this vast knowledge of palms that has been incorporated into the AFIX Tracker system.  Ron Smith knew, as all Latent Print Examiners know, that regardless of what some AFIS vendors may claim, all automated systems are more efficient and effective if the operator is able to limit the amount of data that has to be searched.  Therefore, he went looking for an AFIS company that would allow him to design an automated palm print system that would enable the operator to use their own level of expertise in setting the parameters for the automated search.  For years he has taught his students how to “Search Smart Before You Search Hard” and it makes perfect sense to expect that from today’s automated technology.

When Ron met with the management staff of AFIX Technologies, Inc. (previously The Phoenix Group) they made a statement, not from a position of assumed knowledge, but instead from a sincere position of honesty.  Their comment was, “All we know about palms is that we have two!”  That totally honest, refreshing response led to a friendship and to a commitment on behalf of both companies to join forces and build a very special product.  The result was “AFIX Tracker with Palms”, which has become the local AFIS workhorse for agencies of all sizes throughout the United States and over fifteen (15) other countries around the world.

The system is designed to allow the examiner to limit their search to a small part of the entire known palm print database if they have sufficient latent information and experience to do so.  This option is available without penalizing the user who cannot determine the specific area of origin. If the specific area of search cannot be determined then a full palm search can easily be conducted.  Searches can easily be configured for a small area or the entire palm with just a simple click of the mouse.  AFIX Tracker has truly set the standard for searching versatility and latent examiners just love to use it.  Any vendor which says that it is more efficient to search the entire palm instead of the known area of interest first is simply “blowing smoke” and they know it.  It is as simple as this.  If it were not more efficient to break the palm down into smaller, more specific areas, then why do these same vendors separate the fingers into specific groups for searching purposes?  Any latent print examiner knows that as data bases get larger the search needs to get more specific to improve efficiency, no matter which vendors’ product is being used.

Ron Smith is completely convinced that AFIX Tracker is an exceptional product and that AFIX Technologies, Inc. is a trustworthy company who sincerely cares about its’ users.  For those reasons he has agreed to conduct field demonstrations of the product on behalf of AFIX Technologies, Incorporated.

When considering the acquisition of a local AFIS system it is so much easier to have one of our regional associates bring the system to you, set is up in an office or conference room and allow everyone to learn about AFIX Tracker first hand.  This way the forensic employees, crime scene specialists, detectives, IT personnel, and the agency administrators can all observe and have their individual questions answered without delay.  We have found that this on site demonstration of a fully operational system is a far superior method of disseminating information to the people who need it.  The RS & A, Inc. associate will be happy to spend as much time with you as you wish, but a full scale demonstration can be completed in a single morning or afternoon and can be planned to address the informational needs of the group collectively or individually if desired.  Of course, this on site demonstration is at absolutely no cost to your agency. These associates are working forensic identification professionals just like many of you who understand and appreciate AFIX Tracker and who are trained and equipped to demonstrate the system to you and your agency.  We firmly believe that if AFIX Tracker is right for your agency, AFIX Tracker will sell itself!

If you would like to have an on site demonstration of the AFIX Tracker system at your agency, you may contact our AFIS Coordinator, Brian Dew at (252) 904-1021 or you may email him at: briandew@ronsmithandassociates.com.  He will be very happy to assist you.

We would very much appreciate the opportunity to visit you and your agency and demonstrate first hand how much local AFIS can benefit your agency, how easy AFIX Tracker is to use and how much AFIX Tracker can enhance your investigative efforts.
